(she/her)
Dr. Zoë Laksman is a Registered Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Director at Laksman Doell Psychology. Dr. Laksman empowers clients and helps them fill their toolboxes of resiliency while they navigate setbacks and emerge with lives full of renewed passion and purpose. Her practice primarily focuses on stress and anxiety management (panic attacks, social anxiety, chronic worry, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, burnout, obsessive-compulsive disorder), depression, relationship issues, and performance coaching, in addition to grief and couples counselling.
Dr. Laksman takes an active and compassionate treatment approach, which is both personalized and evidence-based, to empower her clients to identify and achieve their goals, increase their self-awareness, and tap into their natural abilities to navigate obstacles. Through this process, her clients make meaningful and lasting life changes. Further, she helps her clients gain a deeper understanding of who they are and how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours impact their individual functioning and relationships with others. Her primary theoretical orientation is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), although she integrates complementary methodologies and techniques in order to offer an individualized approach tailored to each client or couple.
Dr. Laksman completed both her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at Adler University in Chicago, Illinois with clinical training at the York University Counselling and Development Centre. Further training was undertaken at the CBT Unit and Anxiety Disorders Clinics at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Canada’s largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital. She was a Staff Psychologist at Cleveland Clinic Canada, a pioneering integrative health care facility in Toronto, with specialty programs in executive health, stress/anxiety management, women’s health, cardiac prevention, and weight and lifestyle management. Dr. Laksman spent thirteen years in private practice, working with adults in individual and couples counseling, before she founded Laksman Doell Psychology.
At Laksman Doell Psychology, Dr. Laksman provides assessment and therapy to individuals and couples, supervision to psychologists during their supervised practice year with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario, and peer consultation to her colleagues. Dr. Laksman provides on-site services, talks, and professional workshops related to emotional health and stress management at the Boston Consulting Group’s Toronto office, one of the largest global consulting firms.
