Dr. Jotthi Bansal,

C.Psych. (Supervised Practice)

Clinical Psychologist in Supervised Practice

(she/her)

Dr.Jotthi Bansal is a Clinical Psychologist in Supervised Practice, who is currently in the process of completing her registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. With a specialization in adult mental health, she supports both individuals and couples in building resilience through the complex demands of life.

Central to Dr. Bansal’s philosophy is the belief that meaningful change comes from learning to work with thoughts and emotions rather than against them—to be present in life and to face challenges with understanding. Her therapeutic style invites deep processing of emotional experiences, helping clients to uncover the origins of maladaptive patterns, to connect with their true selves, to resolve internal and interpersonal conflict, and to realize their values.

Known for her open and genuine personality, Dr. Bansal strives to create a supportive yet productive therapy space, and her insight and curiosity allow her to work collaboratively with clients in gaining self-awareness. Appreciating that each individual or couple faces unique challenges, she takes an integrative, client-centered approach to therapy, drawing from Emotion-Focused (EFT), Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Psychodynamic, and Mindfulness-based practices.

Dr. Bansal has experience working with a diverse range of presenting issues, including anxiety and mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, conflict in relationships and communication, career navigation and life transitions, emotion regulation, disordered eating, and problems with attention and focus. She has an extensive background working with trauma, injuries, and pain management, and welcomes individuals who are seeking self-exploration.

Informed by her eclectic research background, Dr. Bansal is highly skilled in working with clients in demanding environments, such as executives, high-performers, and athletes. Her most recent research focuses on supporting professional athletes and immigrants through career challenges, while her earlier work explored the intersection of music, emotion, and personality, offering her an understanding of the ties between creativity and mental health. Having spent much of her life as an athlete and coach, Dr. Bansal brings a unique perspective to working with clients who are navigating high-pressure situations and difficulties with decision-making. Dr. Bansal also enjoys actively contributing to knowledge translation within the community by leading workshops on career psychology and mental well-being for workplaces and students.

Dr. Bansal completed her Doctoral and Master’s degrees in Clinical and Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). Prior to joining Laksman Doell Psychology, she worked and trained in several private practices over the past nine years, completing psychoeducational testing, performing psychodiagnostic and ADHD assessments, and providing therapeutic intervention for children, teens, and adults. She also trained at the University of Toronto’s OISE Psychology Clinic.
