Dr. Shira Yufe is a Clinical and Health Psychologist in Supervised Practice, who is currently in the process of completing her registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. Her area of specialization is adult mental health. Dr. Yufe is experienced in providing mental health care for anxiety, low mood, trauma, intrusive thoughts, stress management, relationship concerns, sexual difficulties, existential struggles, women’s health, and body image concerns. She has specialized training in adaptation to diagnosis, disease symptoms and chronic pain, for both individuals who are living with illness and their family members.
Dr. Yufe works flexibly with all of the individuals whom she meets, by considering the complexity and nuance of each individual person’s situation and worldview. She strives to create a pleasant, open, and compassionate environment where individuals can navigate challenging experiences, or begin to flourish in their lives. She is committed to culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive care.
Dr. Yufe provides integrative treatment, drawn from Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical-Behaviour Therapy and Skills Training, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy.
Dr. Yufe completed both her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at York University. She holds undergraduate degrees in Psychology and English Literature from McGill University and York University. Dr. Yufe has been working in private practice and providing clinical care since 2016. She completed her predoctoral residency at a large private practice location in downtown Toronto. Prior to her residency, she conducted diagnostic assessments, as well as provided short and long-term treatment at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, St. John’s Rehabilitation Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital, and the York University Psychology Clinic.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Yufe is passionate about knowledge translation. She frequently provides educational seminars to the public and to organizations and corporations on mental health topics. She has held teaching positions at York University and Seneca College, and provides continuing education to healthcare providers working in Oncology settings. In addition, Dr. Yufe has over ten years of research experience in a variety of contexts.
Dr. Yufe continues to engage in regular professional development activities and is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association.
