Dr. Natalie Ferreira is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. Her area of specialization is adult mental health, and she works from the philosophy that clients are the experts of their own experience. As such, her practice is rooted in the importance of working collaboratively with clients to develop a treatment plan that honours their unique needs and goals.
Dr. Ferreira is known for her warmth and genuineness, her sense of humour, and her collaborative style. She aims to support clients in connecting with their own internal wisdom and to help clients feel more empowered to make meaningful change in their lives. Moreover, she is committed to providing an inclusive space that respects the diverse and intersecting experiences of each individual with whom she works.
Dr. Ferreira works with individuals presenting with a range of concerns, including depression, self-criticism, anxiety, grief, substance use, psychosis, challenges in relationships or dating, difficult life adjustments, and difficulties with understanding and regulating emotions. She also works with individuals who are seeking a space for self reflection, self understanding, and self growth. Her approach is integrative, drawing from multiple evidence-based approaches, including Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and mindfulness-based interventions.
Dr. Ferreira completed both her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at York University in Toronto. She has been providing psychological services since 2016, and has worked and trained in a variety of clinical settings including: the Complex Care and Recovery Program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH); the Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre; and the York University Psychology Clinic (YUPC).
Dr. Ferreira has been involved in psychological research for over a decade, and she is committed to providing evidence-based treatment that is informed by current research. Dr. Ferreira’s own research has closely examined processes during therapy that contribute to good long-term outcomes, with a particular interest on the expression of heartfelt needs that empower clients to make change. She has presented her research at both national and international psychology conferences. She has also been involved in the development and evaluation of treatment protocols for emotional intelligence groups and CBT-informed groups.
Dr. Ferreira continues to engage in regular professional development activities and is a member of the Ontario Psychological Association.
